Unfortunately, ffdshow can't decode proper x264 interlace video. clsid said that bug is on FFMPEG side, not x264vfw.

will there be new release of VFM ? :)

will there be new release of VFM ? :) Why nobody answers to me? :(

If you mean VfW (not VFM), it's pretty much safe to expect a new release every 10 revisions or so (or fewer, if there are major updates). But as a more general answer to your question: "when they're ready." Of course, no significant quality improvements have been made so far that warrant an update yet.

Can you, please, ask Kurtnoise to compile rev 611, with all new switch and options. And, of course, don't forget to tell him to include Trellis Quantization 2 (Always On).

Ok thanks, just wanted to know :D

ref 614 is out when do we get a new build

DeathTheSheep- 12-29-2006

Just to let you know, the only thing that really changed between the build I have up already and 614 is a new form of multithreading support. However, it is reportedly very buggy (just check out the thread at Doom9 to see a lot of complaints), and certain important features of AVC are broken when using it such as scene detection for auto-keyframe placement, which is a rather crucial quality, usability, and decoding issue. So in some cases, x264 is plunging into the encoding process blind to new scenes, which can seriously cripple the quality of certain scenes.

what should be release to get a new VFW version? :D

DeathTheSheep- 01-20-2007

Well...good question. I guess whenever there is a substantial quality improvement like a new form of deblocking, some new motion detection algorithms, etc. Or if the speed is increased considerably with little penalty (unlike it still is)... Or when I finally get around to putting in a somewhat workable decoder solution.

Well... Or when I finally get around to putting in a somewhat workable decoder solution. It would be very good

DeathTheSheep- 01-21-2007

All right, I'll get on it. Maybe I can come up with something after all, since installing the huge ffdshow package is a hassle, causes software/driver/decoder conflicts, is a pain to set up, etc. I'll try to make it as small, easy, and powerful as possible, with full functionality. Any objections? I'm also thinking of making an AVI to iPod/PSP/MP4 thing, too, which would take your previous encodes and make them into an mp4 fast without re-encoding. We'll see how these and other projects go. I'm at the U now, see... time is of the essence!

New version. This one has the decoder. Read the thread about it and tell me what you think :)
