stupid newbie question on installs....
I was just wondering what is the difference between the vfw installer and dll file? I use to dl the x264 windows installer until build 570, then after it became a command prompt program that was confusing to install. This Deathsheep version is like the old one I suppose? Easier to run than megui... Are there alternate versions? That will integrate with a 3rd party video dubber like virtualdub for mpegs? Multithreaded for dual core cpus? Thanks for your help, Dave.

There aren't any more alternate versions; this is just about it now. The one provided on the site has multithreading support (basic MT; parallel): just set # of threads to 2 for a dual-core processor. Once installed, it will automatically integrate into all VfW-compatible programs such as VirtualDub. You may have to restart VirtualDub after installing it, though.
